How it works

Nominations are now being accepted for The VOWS Awards 2010, but you can continue handing out nomination forms to your brides and grooms after the cut-off date of 21 September 2010, because votes received after this will be included in next year's figures.

Nomination forms are sent to The VOWS Awards by email or post and once the data from all the forms has been entered into a database, the VOWS team embarks on a comprehensive process in order to produce a shortlist of companies for each category. Important eligibility details for wedding suppliers

On 21 September 2010, all entries will be counted and qualified. Entries received after this date will go towards next year's nominations. Incomplete entries are disqualified.

All qualified entries are verified through one or more of the following means:

  • Wedding confirmed with the General Registrar of Scotland
  • Random cross-reference confirmation with other wedding suppliers listed at wedding
  • Random confirmation with Brides/Grooms
  • Companies reviewed to ensure they   meet entry qualifications
  • Mystery Shopper

All qualified entries are then grouped by category and the mean average of each category is determined.

Those companies scoring less than the overall average are removed.

The mean average of the remaining entries is then calculated. Those companies scoring less than this mean average are removed.
